Define: Teacher vs. Student Cuts.

You look at the school crisis going on right now and it makes you sick. Well that is, if you keep up with what is going on. If you catch a news report every 6 months, you voice your opinion and then you forget about it and move on. I don’t blame you if you do not have kids, or run a fortune 500 company making lots of money and the wife takes care of the kids.

If you have caught a News Cast anytime in the last 6 months, you know that Nevada, and other states are cutting teachers salaries and teaching staff at an alarming pace. No one see’s the problem? The problem is that we have, lets say 100 teachers and 40 kids to a class, and the percent of kids passing each year gets lower and lower. So it’s a good idea to drop teachers and add 7 to 8 more kids per class that results in more work for the teachers? We already work teachers harder than ever. Now we add more work for them?

I say we drop any student with a 1.4 GPA.

I say we drop any student with a 1.4 GPA. If they have that GPA for longer than half of their high school academic career, there is no way a student can pass. You think the kid is going to actually do the work online? No! Parents are buying the credits and the kids pass. We give these kids to many attempts to ‘catch up”. If you work in the real world, you are not given chance after chance to make up for all the money the company lost by investing in you and  your skills. You are out on your ass and someone else gets your job.

Think about it like business. The less money going out on a employee that is not preforming equals keeping your doors open longer and investing the money in a website API that gets you hits to your companies website. Ok, maybe that was a bit harsh. But it’s true.

So take these kids that are failing and lets get rid of them. If  you ask the kids who are failing, they probably would agree to that and leave on their own. In my opinion, it’s not called being mean or having a one track mindset. This is about saving money and using it where we need it to go.

Let’s take this theory and run with it.
